A1 Plumbers UK is an established plumbing and construction company in Slough with a strong local reputation, but a website that wasn't working hard enough on the marketing front, with limited visibility in local search, and no automated way to handle incoming enquiries. I worked with them on the marketing side of the site, contributing on-page SEO and email automation: helping them get found locally, and making sure no enquiry slipped through the cracks. The examples below illustrate that work, some taken directly from the build, others drafts I've put together to show my process.
Core challenge: A capable, well-regarded business that was harder to find online than it should be, and slow to follow up enquiries.
The goal: Help A1 Plumbers get found by more local customers, and make sure every enquiry gets a fast, reliable response.

SEARCH VISIBILITY (SEO)
SEARCH VISIBILITY (SEO)
For a local trades business, being found in search is everything. I worked across the three pillars of SEO, focusing my hands-on work on on-page and technical, with off-page as a clear set of next steps.
On-page SEO (what I did)
Aligned each service page with local search intent (e.g. "emergency plumber Slough").
Placed primary keywords naturally in the URL, H1 and opening lines.
Wrote title tags under ~60 characters and 150–160 character meta descriptions built to earn more clicks.
Structured pages with a logical H1 / H2 / H3 hierarchy, Easy to skim for users and crawlers.
Kept slugs short, readable and hyphenated (e.g. /boiler-heating, /drains).
Linked service pages internally so visitors and search engines move through the site easily.
Optimised images with descriptive, keyword-aware alt text.
Technical SEO (what I did)
Added structured data (schema) for core business details — name, location, contact.
Built mobile-first, in line with Google's mobile indexing.
Kept a clean, crawlable URL structure and tidy page load for crawl efficiency.
Off-page SEO (recommended next steps)
Optimise the Google Business Profile: the biggest lever for local "near me" searches.
Build consistent local citations (name, address, phone) across directories.
Generate reviews — the automated review-request email I set up already feeds this.
Earn a few quality local backlinks (trade directories, local press, suppliers).

CAPTURING ENQUIRIES (EMAIL AUTOMATION)
CAPTURING ENQUIRIES (EMAIL AUTOMATION)
For a business that wins work on speed and reliability, a slow reply loses customers. I built an automated email flow in MailerLite so every enquiry is acknowledged instantly, and so satisfied customers are prompted to leave the reviews a local business depends on.
The automation runs as a single workflow: a new enquiry triggers an immediate confirmation email, then a two-day delay, then a review request once the job's had time to be completed.
A personalised confirmation email, sent the moment an enquiry comes in, so no one's left waiting in silence.
A two-day delay, so the review request lands after the work is done, not before.
A review-request email with a one-tap Google review button, turning happy customers into public proof.
On-brand design and copy throughout, written to match A1's friendly tone.
